FreeOn the 1st of January every year is global Tet Holiday. Tet holiday takes place very quickly and shortly within only one day. Therefore Vietnamese people attach great importance to the traditional New Year’s Day of ethnicity, usually held on the first day of lunar January. That is Tet of gathering, meeting and friendship which prolonged up to three days of Tet, seven days of Spring. Throughout the earth only China, Korea, Mongolia and Vietnam has traditional Tet Holiday, so the Holiday can be considered as precious and rare ‘specialty’ of the country.
Vietnamese people known traditional Tet Holiday as Lunar New Year (Tet Nguyen Dan), the word ‘NGUYEN’ means start, ‘DAN’ means early morning, is starting point of a new year.
Vietnamese’s Tet actually starts on 23rd December with farewell ceremony for Kitchen Gods (Ong Tao). However there are still other customs as well as taboos hat not anyone also know.
