FreeHighway 249 is paving the road with a bluegrass sound all of their own. Lead singer and front man Joey Spence (on left) lays out the hard driving style with original tunes and old country standards. Banjo player Chris Wicker (far right), has moved from the farm up to Richmond. Scott Deffenbaugh is equally as good on the guitar as our resonator picker. He's the only one left with ties to New Kent County. Doug Mitchell from Mechanicsville holds the upright bass. (center back) And our newest member, Mike Bowles on mandolin has brought on some originals that are sure to be hits. Highway 249 is a local Virginia Bluegrass Band.
