Georges St-Pierre aka GSP is a Canadian mixed martial artist and the current Welterweight Champion of the UFC. St-Pierre is ranked as the No. 1 Welterweight in the world according to Sherdog. St-Pierre is ranked the No. 3 pound for pound fighter by ESPN, and No. 2 by Sherdog. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 he was named the Canadian Athlete of the Year by Rogers Sportsnet. He is also the reigning lineal welterwelter champion. Georges St-Pierre, a French Canadian, was born on May 19, 1981 in Saint-Isidore, Quebec. He started learning Kyokushin karate at 7 then he took up wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At UFC 58, St-Pierre defeated former UFC welterweight champion B.J. Penn to become the No. 1 contender for the UFC welterweight title.
