Update: Enjoy version 1.3
Landscape mode for the remote is the big feature in this one!

VLC is a great, free and popular media player that is particularly good at handling almost any file format.

VLC Remote lets you sit back enjoy your movies and music while you control things from your easy chair.

Features include:
-Automatically looks for VLC players in your local network
-Supports VLC on Windows XP, Vista, Mac and Linux
-All standard controls (volume, seek, stop, play, next, etc.)
-Easily toggle fullscreen display.
-Full browsing control on your computer (select any file on your computer to play)
-Browse external drives (see tips in app for instructions)
-View your current playlist. Play any item, or remove items from the playlist.
-Set default device to control.
-Set default browse location for selecting files
-Full instructions on how to connect to your VLC player including free setup helper apps for Windows XP, Vista and Mac.

It is a joy to use - no more reaching for the mouse when I want to pause my TV, select the next episode, or play some different music.

Response to feedback:

-Some folks have had crashes on startup when VLC remote scans their network. Version 1.3 disables network scanning if there is a crash, so you should now be able to enter your computer directly.
-Mac 10.4 users. The setup app won't work for you, but the manual instructions will!
-If you do have any problems connecting to VLC, then please just check the help instructions in the app. Feel free to drop me an email (my personal mail is in the app) if you need help.

Enjoy!
