Very simple to use, yet has all I need to track my money. But the best part is, that it's open-source, so I could change the bits I didn't like or add features I missed for a more comfortable use (an icon for N70, fullscreen, key shortcuts).

Compared to other similar apps, this app works flawlessly for me. The interface may have room for improvement (this is why I rated it 9), but the functionality works really well. I like the way it records time in addition to the transaction date. Many thanks for making this app.

Stephen Brown using a BlackBerry 8330

I really like the look and feel of the app. It installed flawlessly from the getjar.com WAP site on my Sprint BlackBerry 8330's browser without incident. That said, after using it for a few minutes, I feel that some improvements are necessary. My suggestions are as follows: 1. Negative Integer capability 2. Improved Menu Structure 3. Integration with BlackBerry Key Presses Let's begin with the first subject, Negative Integers. I have what is called 'overdraft privileges' on my checking account, where I can withdraw--for a fee--up to $200.00 U.S. Dollars over the limit of my account. This routinely causes my account to go to a negative balance, which disappears when a monthly direct deposit comes through at the beginning of the month. Point: Not everyone has a positive balance all the time. Without the ability to 'go in the red' on the balance sheet, a very salient portion of indicated financial conditions are not able to be recorded. *This Feature Needs To Be Added! Now to the second item, Menu Structure. To me, this wasn't thought out well enough. A bit of flowcharting the menu system on this application would have yielded an easier-to-use interface. J2ME applications are problematical enough on phones with QWERTY keyboards--like my 8330--that absolutely insist that you must first bring up a menu to select what you want. It's twice as frustrating when the *Primary Feature* you're trying to select at any given point is many lines down from the top of the list, meaning one has to scroll down a bit to find, for example, the SAVE feature, when that feature should have really been at the top of the list. This feature definitely needs work, although, to be fair, the system is workable, just a bit cumbersome. One thing that needs to be mentioned is the need to add categories. The application has a good look and feel, with the main screen that appears upon program launch a clean interface, with wonderfully rendered bright, light-blue lines (at least on my 8330) that were thought out well; I found I could read everything easily. Again, that said, I found the adding of accounts to be a bit of a 'Search and Find', somewhat cumbersome activity. Too many menus need to be navigated to even get one new 'Wallet'--this application's term for 'Account'--created. Another item that deserves it's own paragraph is this: One can create a Wallet easily enough, but to add an individual transaction to that Wallet, the Categories table must be populated. Categories is located under the Settings menu, navigated to from the main page. For my test, I made two Category listings: 'Money In' and 'Money Out' . I was able to add transactions after I created these Categories--although one need add only one to make the system work. (I'm assuming this, I added two (2) categories, myself, not one.) I ran into a roadblock on my own personal useage requirements when, during the creation of my first transaction -- a simple indication of -217.36 -- the system gave me a warning stating that I couldn't have negative integers or negative balances. This simply would not work for me, due to the fact that my balance runs negative occasionally. This is planned for, and accounted, and I need to have the feature on any finanical software that I use, freeware or payware. One item that would be nice is to have this application set up to work with BlackBerry key presses. This is a feature specific to my own needs. I can see by the example application thumbnail photo that this application is designed to fit on a wide variety of J2ME-capable devices, of which my BlackBerry 8330 is only a part. Still, it would be nice to have, so I'm mentioning it here. Summarizing, I feel that LightWallet meets the needs for which it was created, and is useable. So long as one doesn't wander into negative numbers, the application would seem to work just fine. A bit of work on improving the menu-navigation system would boost this application's usability a hundred fold, making it less tedious to move around the screens. The same can be said for how accounts are created. A set of generic Categories--'Money In' and 'Money Out' as one example, and the ones I used--that are already hard-coded into the programming--thus preventing the error I received stating that Categories needed to be added, would seem to me to be a salient, much-desirable addition. I give the interface a top score, because of it's simplicity and in keeping with the application's name: LightWallet. I hope this review is fair and helpful. I appreciate Developer for creating such a useful application "lightwallet". Your application is the best as compare to other expense tracking apps. I found one problem on Nokia 3110c,6300 and 6233(all 40 series). The problem is when adding AMOUNT in transaction it starts with ALPHABETS (LETTERS) MODE not NUMBERS MODE, so I manualy switch it to NUMBERS MODE.I tried LightWallet on Nokia 6120 (60 series) there is no problem at all. I hope you will fix the problem. My last Question from you is That which Brand of Mobile phone is Best for java application? I tried your LightWallet on many nokia phones eg.N95 N96 E66 but I find very large screen on Samsung D880. Is it mean that Samsung is best for java apps?
