Tourgi - Your Tour Guide(TM) is a sightseeing guide that delivers narratives to java-enabled, midp 2.0 mobile devices. Visitors to a sight simply log in to the mobile tour guide and select a narrative to begin listening. The entire party can listen as they visit a sight, at their own pace and for a fraction of the cost of a live guide. "This is the tour of the future, like having a tour guide in your pocket," said Laurie Armstrong, vice president of public relations with the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau. And, if the device is GPS-enabled, users can let the location-based edition of Tourgi (in beta) find sights in their vicinity. Tourgi sightseeing narratives can also be enjoyed on a pc via the internet or downloaded to an mp3 player. "Tourgi enables visitors to listen on-demand, based on their unique itinerary", said Kirti Schoener, president of OmniNav, Inc. And, visitors who have sightseeing tips of their own can upload audio narratives, allowing other Tourgi members to share their experiences. A full subscription allows access to mobile narratives as well as unlimited internet downloads and costs $21.95 for 1 year. Narratives are available for San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, Chicago, and London, with more cities coming soon. To begin listening, and for the most up-to-date jar version, download Tourgi - Your Tour Guide at: http://www.tourgi.com.
