ColorTest is a utility for determining the color depth of a MIDP2.0 compatible device. The format can be used directly for creating a color translation file for BananaSolutions` Custom Colour Depth Converter Adobe® Photoshop® compatible plug-in.

When using a standard graphics editing program to reduce the colour count from 24-bit colour depth to 8-bit colour depth, a graphics program will often choose the most apropriate colour to please the eye. This may or may not be a colour present in the target device colour palette. Also, colour palettes of mobile devices may differ according to model and manufacturer even though the nominal colour depth might be the same.

The Custom Colour Depth Converter targets this problem, by providing device specific color translation.

The source of ColorTest is included in the Custom Colour Depth Converter installation package and provided here as a binary for convenience.
