Description.
    All operations fall into 2 groups:

    1. Individual folders, files, applications, and databases:
    • Launch
    • Copy
    • Move
    • Delete
    • Rename
    • Compress
    • Beam/Send
    • Info

    2. Groups of folders, files, applications, and databases:

    • Copy group
    • Move group
    • Delete group
    • Compress group
    • Info group

    Multiple-windows technology provides simultaneous display of the main memory and the external cards contents. This technology makes it fast and easy to copy/move folders, files and applications. In order to make navigation less complicated, some dynamic screen hints for every button and controller are applied.
    All functional operations are easily available with the help of 2 technologies:

    • Drag-and-Drop
    • Touch-and-Wait

    MegaCom additionally includes 4 developed and powerful utilities:

    • Trash Center
    • Archive Center
    • Backup Center
    • Search Center

    The unique Info Arrangement technology enables to adjust the output and sorting of the displayed information to all tastes.
    The system of service information parallel display (depends on your type of device) is realized in MegaCom.
    - Battery info (battery voltage/battery rate)
    - Date&Time (current time/current date/day of the week)
    - Internal memory (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)
    - MS card info (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)
    - SD card info (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)
    - MMC card info (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)
    - CF card info (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)
    - Card info (software virtual disk) (free memory Mb/free memory %/used memory Mb/used memory %)

    MegaCom may be run on all modern PDA based on Palm OS 4.0 and greater that support the following screen resolution:

    - Low-Res (160*160)
    - Hi-Res (320*320)
    - Hi-Res Plus (320*480)
    - Hi-Res Plus Landscape (480*320)

Installation.

    To install this program you should synchronize the MegaCom.prc application to your device.
    Files can be installed by using the Desktop S/W or just any other application.

MegaCom views

Every time you touch any of the two (or three in the landscape mode) information windows in the upper part of the screen, there appears the window that leads to the systemMenu and the listed information which, when selected, is displayed in this window. These windows are self-contained. Thus you can simultaneously enter any information from the list in different windows.

- The upper right part of the screen features the brightness/contrast button and the "Power" button.

This image demonstrates the multiple-windows mode, which enables to display simultaneously the contents of 2 media. Depending on the device used, the screen can show the contents for:
  • Handheld
  • SD card
  • MMC card
  • MS card
  • N~F card
  • Card (software virtual disk)

To transfer to the multiple-windows mode, press the button, which is located on the lower bar. Thus, to lead the information of only 1 medium, press the button for the upper bar or the button for the lower bar.

Also, the multiple-windows mode features possibility of each window size adjustment. To do this, just touch the middle bar area: and with stylus pressed move this bar upward or downward. Your attention must be drawn to the fact that each window has the minimum size limit: 4 lines.

Note: Screen size adjustment mode is available for Hi-Res Plus (320*480) only.

To jump one level up in the folders hierarchy, use the button, which is located on the right side of the upper bar as well as the lower bar.

When pressing the path names, e.g., you get to the tree, which enables you to select any other way of navigation.

To change the medium, press the icons on the left of each bar: for the upper bar or for the lower bar and in the list appeared select the desired medium to be displayed on this bar.

Info Arrangement

On the right of each bar there is theInfo Arrangement button.

This function makes it possible to adjust and sort the information output in the corresponding bar.

E.g. the adjustment in the picture (displayed on the left) enables to lead the information sorted by the name of files, folders, and applications with displaying their size simultaneously.

Operations with objects (files, folders, and applications).

To perform any operation, you just need to touch the file or application, then in the list appeared select the desired operation. To perform an operation with folders, touch the desired folder and hold it for a split second. When the list of operations appears, select the desired one.

There is yet an alternative variant: touch the selected object (file, folder, application, and database) and without a pause drag this object towards the lower bar, then, without dropping this object, aim it onto the desired operation icon and then drop it.

When performing generic operations, dot the marks on the left of each object:
In order to select all objects in the window, use theSelect All function, which is available in the main menu.
After the desired group is selected, touch and hold one of the selected objects until the list of operations appears or touch and drag the selected group onto the corresponding icon on the lower bar.

Operations available:

  • Launch - applications launching (this entry may be lacking depending on the file format)
  • Copy - copying the selected object to the other folder/card (the object will be saved in the source)
  • Move - moving the selected object to the other folder/card (the object will be deleted in the source)
  • Delete - the selected object will be deleted or moved to theTrash Center
  • Rename - the selected object renaming
  • Compress - the selected object will be compressed and moved to theArchive Center
  • Beam/Send - transferring the selected object onto the other device by the Beam protocol or BlueTooth (in case the device supports this type of transferring)
  • Info - the entire system information about the selected object.

Archive Center

Archive Center, your device should contain theSysZLib.prc file (this file can be found and installed from the distributiveMegaCom.zip pack)

Performance order:

  • Select the medium.
  • Touch the file for the list of operations to appear or drag the file onto the desired icon located in the lower part of the screen.

To exit from theArchive Center, press the button.

Trash Center


For the generic operations select the desired objects (use theSelect All function from the main menu), then follow the same steps as for the single operation.

Note: When using theSysZLib.prc file (this file can be found and installed from the distributiveMegaCom.zip pack), all the files moved to theTrash Center, would be compressed. Thus, you can retrench the memory of your device or medium without the object deletion.

Backup Center

Backup CenterThe entire system can be reserved on the external memory cards only. In case you use theSysZLib.prc file (this file can be found and installed from the distributiveMegaCom.zip pack), the common file would be compressed and you retrench the space on your external memory card. In this situation you should consider the fact that when performing theRestore operation, you will also need theSysZLib.prc file, which is supposed to be on your device.

Availability of the required free memory size on the external card is the indispensable condition to perform a successful BackUp. To do this, pay your attention to theDestination informational section before you press the Start button.

To restore the information on your device, insert the card where the last BackUp was performed, then selectRestore in the Operation: section, select the card in the Source: section and press theStart button.

Backup Center falls into 4 sections:

  • Backup All
  • Restore All
  • Sampling restore
  • Scheduler

    • 1. Backup All

    The entire memory contents BackUp is performed onto the external card. The number of BackUps is limited by the size of the external card. The Info window that shows the size filled on your device and the free space on the external card enables you to analyze the BackUp expediency. If your device supports more than one external card, you should select the desired card in the "Destination" section before BackUp performing. To save the space on the external card, you can use the compression function. At the same time you should allow for BackUp process duration. To delete the outdated BackUp sets, select the corresponding checkbox and press the "Delete".
    2. Restore All

    This section enables you to restore on your device one of the BackUp sets selected by you. To restore, select the desired card in the "Source" section. Then select the set (according to the date) and press the "Restore" button. To delete the outdated BackUp sets, select the corresponding checkbox and press the "Delete" button.
    3. Sampling restore

    Sampling BackUp enables you to restore separate applications and files from BackUp sets. To perform this, first select the desired card in the "Source" section. Then select the BackUp date (according to the date). In the set appeared select all applications that you wish to restore. Press the "Restore" button.
    4. Scheduler

    To activate self-acting BackUp, set the "Schedule status" option in "On". Set the time in the "Backup time" line. In the "Days" line select the day or days of the week when you are going to perform self-acting BackUp. Press the "Done" button.

    The "Backup after each HotSync" function enables you to perform self-acting BackUp every time after the synchronization of your device with PC.

    SearchCenter

    The powerful search mechanism Search Center realized in theMegaComprogram enables to find absolutely all objects that may be located on your device or memory expansion cards.

    TheMenusection includes:

    Select all - the selection of all objects in the upper/lower/both bars
    Unselect all - deselection
    Create folder - a new folder creation (the system will further suggest you the place where to create this new folder)
    Volumes info - the system information about your device and memory extension cards
    Volumes label - editing or replacement of the name of all memory extension cards available
    Volumes format - complete formatting of all memory extension cards available
    Exit - exit from the MegaCom program

    TheInfo section includes:

    Soft Reset - soft reset of your device.
    Uninstall MegaCom - use this function to perform the accurate deinstallation of the MegaCom program from your device.
