Well after the initial faff of creating an eBuddy account i found myself online with all my contacts and everything appeared to be working so I decided to sign out to check if it was costing me money and I was pretty annoyed to find out it had after it bosted to be free. I'm not going to delete it as i don't have enough credit to constantly use it (and i do constantly use msn lol) Unless anyone can tell me how I can do it without it costing me money (that also doesn't involve a wireless connection) Thanks
  Developer response
Hi Alex, thanks for your comments. To explain something about the costs: you can download and use our Mobile Messenger for free, but your mobile operator will indeed charge you for the wireless connection. eBuddy uses a mobile internet connection to log you in to your chat network. The costs depend fully on your operator, often they have a flat fee offer, so you will not pay per use anymore.

I used to love eBuddy a lot until this version came out when it now starts requiring registration. Now it does what any mobile multi-messenger does... it asks for an account with eBuddy to allow you to access messenger networks while using it. It's sad to see this... eBuddy was the greatest mobile messenger until this happened a few days ago but maybe there's still hope they'll reconsider.

I actually now have a Nokia E51 that is not on the list. It's being loaded for the first time as we speak, so haven't tried eBuddy with it yet. My previous phone's, the Nokia 6233's (with a Series 40 OS) best program that I found and used was eBuddy without a doubt! I've looked at numerous different IM programs for phones and eBuddy is THE BEST in every way! I've tried Nimbuzz and it was sucky as ever! MSN didn't even show nicks instead of emails, didn't support the additional status text and you had to apply some Nimbuzz account. Besides that it had "Call" in the menus that I found totally worthless and all the related features were kinda pointless if you ask me. My friend tried Palringo and said it was EVEN WORSE. I've looked at different IM software for mobiles and you won't regret eBuddy! It's GUI is nice, simplistic and easy to use. It has all the features you need and I craved for only two lacking things: A custom avatar to be set (in none of the IMs for phones) and file sending (in Nimbuzz this was done with some idiotic upload to a webpage, not the same as sending 1on1). I give eBuddy 9/10 just because of the lack of Custom Avatar Support and that it isn't made in Symbian to run faster than J2ME and consume less memory.

Wow. This is great. I doubted that it would work properly at first because my phone isnt really a high-tech phone but, as soon as I started it I was amazed. It runs great and hardly takes up any memory at all. The MSN on eBuddy is just as good as the PC version. Thanks guys keep up the good work.

hi there i got everything working and i wanted to know what exactly is free and what exactly we have to pay for, does it use the mobile internet to send messages and be online, or the sms messages or both, let me know asap, i want to start using it, i gave 5 since im only half way on using this program
  Developer response
Dear eBuddy User, Thanks for the report. eBuddy uses the internet service of the mobile phone to send / receive the Instant Messages. It does not use sms messages for chatting, all is done through the internet access. The data transfer that is generated when using eBuddy is charged to you by your Mobile Service Provider. Inform with your Customer Service what the charges are and if they perhaps offer a flat-fee pack for using the internet connection. I hope this answers your question. Enjoy using eBuddy! If you have any other questions, you can always email us through feedback@ebuddy.com Best regards, Rachid eBuddy Team

Dear Sarahyoyo, eBuddy uses the internet connection when you are using eBuddy. Your mobile operator charges you for using the internet access. Please check with your Customer Service what they charge you and if they have plans for cheaper Internet Usage. Hi I was wondering if this uses actual data connection to send the messages like an internet app or does it do it via sms? Might sound like a dumb question but I had one before that uses sms every time to send and recieve messages and my bil went thru the roof. I have unlimited internet on the phone just not unlimited txt msgs. -- Anyone know? Thanks!

i have downloaded ebuddy and it works well.but i want to know how many kb it takes if i use it.will it cost me if i minimize it?i'm using digi wap and it cost me 10cent/10kb
  Developer response
It really depends on how actively you are chatting. Here's an indication on what a typical session with eBuddy Messenger could cost you: 20 minutes of intense chatting (about 50 lines): 0.06-0.08 MB 60 minutes online with little activity: 0.03-0.05 MB This indication is for when your mobile operator supports 'socket connections'. Most mobile operators do so. If your operator doesn't support socket connections, the data usage may be more.

This is a very good application, i was initially afraid it might not work on my connection since mine is a 'only' wap connection, not a full data gprs connection. but this messenger worked fine...even the g.tak application from google didn't work, but this did....so its worth appreciating. nice interface, gives a vibration when you get an IM, quite good features...very nice overall....
