| Extended Recorder is a tool which implements a very important and useful function missing in Series 60 phones: the ability of creating voice notes longer than 60 seconds and recording phone conversations! Extended Recorder functionality is similar to standard Recorder, but it can do much more than a standard one! Registering voice notes had never been so easy! Now user may forget about 60 second limitations! The only limitation is the available disk space. Extended Recorder has the functionality of showing the remaining available record time. Extended Recorder has two main functionalities: recording as a recording machine, and registering voice calls. User may select whether to use phone memory or memory card for storing audio clips. The quality of the recording and its codec can be changed from Low (amr) to High (wav). This software vendor has started securing registration on the new versions of the
software so that the phone must have Internet Data Service on the phone to
register and activate the full version, otherwise it will expire after 10 days.
Since less than 10% of people in the US and Western Europe currently have Internet
data service on their phones, this is a really dumb idea. I paid $12.95 for the
software and it was completely unusable since I am not paying $30-$100 more a
month for data service in my plan. I have to have data service in order to
register and activate this software.
This is an extreme usability problem making the software inoperable for 90% of the
mobile. They do not currently inform purchasers of this limitation before buying
but happily take your money and then do not do anything to resolve the problems
that their invasive registration scheme causes.
The software might work well once it is installed but the new versions are
impossible to install and register for full use by over 90% of the population in
the US and Western Europe because most people in these areas don`t have the
required Internet data service plan (see http://www.instat.com/press.asp?
ID=649&sku=IN030931MD for statistics on wireless data service).
This is thoughtless, irresponsible and invasive registration scheme by Psiloc as a
company. Don`t bother actually paying for this software unless you have data
service as part of your plan or you want to throw money in the garbage.
