MobyExplorer is a powerful File Manager and FTP & FTPS Client for Java J2ME enabled mobile phones. It is the complete tool for managing your files on your phone or FTP server in any way.

It has support for military strength file encryption, a built in text editor which is also integrated with the encryption engine so you can write completely secure notes, and support for file compression using the GZip protocol. The Text Editor can also be used to edit files or web pages remotely on a FTP server.

MobyExplorer also has support for secure FTP over SSL/TLS.

Main features

• File Compression utility to save discspace and bandwidth using the GZip/GUnzip tool.
• Edit your website using the built in text editor, and then deploy it using the FTP client. Alternatively edit the web page remotely on the web-site.
• Multiple file management for all the file management features (including the Encryption and GZip features).
• Flexible dual file system view for seamless file management between file systems. Each view can either be connected to your local file system on your phone or a remote FTP file server. Any combination of local and remote file systems can be used. Local-Local, Local-Remote or even Remote-Remote. Files can be seamlessly transferred between the file systems in any direction.
• MobyExplorer is signed using a Thawte certificate which means no more annoying security prompts when accessing the local file system.

Installation

Important!!
Please note that you must install MobyExplorer using the MobyExplorer.jad file (preferrably using WAP) if you want to be able to access the file system in an unrestricted way. You can install the jar file directly but then you will get prompted to allow access to the file system, every time you do this.

Please also note that you need to enable file read and write access permissions for MobyFtp after you have installed it, to avoid the constant file access prompts. Please see our web site for instructions how to do this.

If you have installation problems it is probably due to a missing Thawte root certificate on your phone. Please see our web site for instructions how to check if you have a Thawte root certificate. If you don`t you can still install and use MobyExplorer as an unsigned Midlet by installing the MobyExplorer.jar file directly.

usefull tool, great application.. the only thing is that i can only use it for 20 days coz i dont have the money to buy this software.. now, it would be useless if i'd encrypt my folders and not be able to decrypt them later coz the evaluation period just expired, wont it? haha.. if anyone knows anything about a software that could encrypt or hide a folder, can u plz send something to my email.. thanks.. =D this is a great application overall.. m/

I have tried to download "MobyExplorer" on my mobile from wap.getjar.com but it showed "Install Error" message. I think, JAD file was corrupted. So, i downloaded JAR file from this page and made JAD from this. then it was successfully installed.This is 20 days unregistered version 3.0. I can see all files/ folders of internal/external memory of mobile from this software. I can read / edit text (.txt) files from this software along with these options: Edit, Save, Save As, Save As Encrypted, Find, Full Screen, Preferences etc. To open any file, press "5" numeric key or center "OK" navigation key TWO TIMES. Although, text editor is slow. To use Menu options, select the options like:connect, Edit, Actions, Protect etc and press "6" numeric key. Then press "OK" center key. I have successfully copied images from "My Photos" folder into "Other Files" folder of phone through "MobyExplorer". You can Encrypt and ZIP/ UNZIP any kind of file. There are more features available but i have only used this software for 30 minutes. I will give 9 out of 10 points because it does not open JPG/GIF images.

The best application I've ever tested on this phone. Unfortunately, it crashes when I try to load 10 KB big text file with message Out of Memory, but it is a small detail :) Good FTP client, but also, not for larger files. A price - 15$ - anyway, I go buy this soft.

At first it didn`t install (certification problems). After trying unsigned version, it started to run, but buttons weren`t working (neither arrows nor numeric). Some menu elements didn`t fit in the screen. GetJar suggested it for my MP, but actually worthless for K1. :(

MobyExplorer comes up on the getjar categories of software accessed after entering my phone type as Samsung SGH X700, but hangs at 98% every time when wap downloading. Would not run locally either. Hard to evaluate something which is seemingly incompatible. Why does it show up after being supposedly filtered by my phone type? - Faugh! :( Not to mention being charged for trying to download it!

A demo version for a commercial program is pretty useless if an annoying "nag screen" constantly appears when running it - so I deleted it after one minute or so and forgot about it. Besides, it is overfeatured for my needs anyway.

It is lacking very important task which is sending files via Bluetooth, infrared, e-mail, text message, Multimedia message, or printer. and that is why I rated it 9 not 10. It is really a great application. I can now edit my text files on my memory card as well as create new files. I can protect my pictures, video, and important text files from others. Functionally very good, but the user interface needs work to run comfortably on the SE P990i. Touch screen and/or jog wheel don`t fully navigate the menus, and the keyboard interface is optimised for a numeric keypad. On my P990 with flip keyboard removed this results in some convoluted keystrokes on the alpha keypad to do even basic operations. Some additional key assignments would make it much easier to use on an alpha keyboard. Despite these annoyances I`ll be registering it - a useful tool.

Looks great and works fine on Nokia E50. Half an hour of testing, a couple of Megabytes on the phone bill and no crash so far. Reading the manual helps to get the concept, which is easy once you`ve read it, but wasn`t so clear to me without reading. Going up in folder hierarchy could be more user-friendly by adding a virtual "up" folder.
