GPS/J is a console for Bluetooth-enabled GPS receivers, a mobile navigation tool for cellular phone owners. It is a J2ME (Java Micro Edition) application for JSR82-compliant devices.

Version 2.7 now released:
  • Portal - a Web application for waypoint&track management:
    • sharing waypoints and tracks with other GPS/J users
    • waypoint&track export and import through Web page
    • data backup&recovery
  • Three customizable information screens presenting the following information:
    • current speed
    • geographic position in various formats
    • elevation
    • heading
    • compass
    • pointer and distance to chosen point
    • number of satellites received
  • Compass indicates:
    • the direction user is moving in
    • distance and azimuth to the selected point
    • current speed and number of sats
  • Map:
    • location of 20000 towns&cities in Europe
    • the rest of the world downloadable
    • displaying current position and track, user defined waypoints and saved tracks
    • zooming
    • scrolling
  • Saved tracks and waypoints export and import to the phone filesystem in the following formats (JSR75 required):
    • CSV - Microsoft Excel
    • KML - Google Earth
    • GPX - GPS Exchange
  • Raster maps with zooming
  • Other features:
    • Night mode
    • Saving timestamps in tracks
    • Track autosave option

I tried on V630i wth two gps receivers: Adapt AD-750 and QStarz BT-1000. Both are autodetected, but the connection fails. Is there anything I can miss?

I have searched for a GPS/geocaching tool for my Nokia 5500 (S60 v3) for a while. I have found that GPSJ is currently the only tool which is compatible with S60 v3 and useable for geocaching. The most important is that it allows for manual entering of GPS waypoints in the usual geocache format. It has also a customisable GPS information screen which is very handy to cater it to geocaching.

REALLY GREAT! I was looking for some JAVA GPS applications since January. Beside GETrack and odGPS (both are useful for sports and navigation - GETrack supports BT Export in various formats GPX, CSV and KML) there are not many other / or better applications...
But now! GPSJ is combination of both (GETrack and odGPS), it`s under development (see www.gpsj.eu). The price is not high - You can get it for ONLY 9 Euro. I have to try it by running... So, have a nice day!
