Velox is a speedo clone which uses a Bluetooth or internal GPS receiver to display speed, calculate distances and record GPS tracks.

For details see www.veloxgps.de. A version supporting an internal GPS receiver can be found here: http://www.getjar.com/products/18315/Velox

Velox supports recording GPS tracks and GPS tracks can be transferred to the PC via Bluetooth or uploaded to http://www.veloxgps.de.

Notice: not all compatible phones are supported (e.g. the Samsung U900) and the software might be a little bit slow on certain low-end phone models. Some useful hints:
  • If no OBEX device is found when uploading a track to the PC, then make sure the PC is visible and an OBEX server is running. You can also try to turn off the Bluetooth GPS receiver and restart Velox, then try to upload the track again. Some phones have problems scanning for devices when another connection is (or was) established (e.g. Samsung F480).
  • When no Bluetooth GPS device is found make sure it's turned on and visible. Try to go to a place where only this GPS device is visible and no other Blueooth device is in range.
  • Some phone have a memory limitation for MIDlets, e.g. Motorola limits the memory to 500 kB although several MB would be available.

hey I was wondering if the GPS part of this app. will cost me any momey .. I dont really want to pay my cell service provider money to use this on my phone.. so yes or no?
  Developer response
It depends on your phone settings. Some phones use assisted GPS to get a faster first fix, which means they download the ephemeris data from the internet. I don't know exactly how you can configure this option on a W760, but if it is like the C702 then go to the menu -> Location services -> Settings -> Assisted start and disable it.

how it works more details please, what i need for my Motorola K1
  Developer response
You need a Bluetooth GPS receiver and you have to enable Bluetooth on your phone. However, it could be that the K1 doesn't have enough memory or CPU power to run this application.

Hi. I tried VELOX 2.02 on my Nokia N95 8Gb and it works fine. No problems. I spent some time guessing the way to send the track via bluetooht (OBEX service) but finally I found the right way. I like cycling and till now I used GPSEd software for tracking but VELOX is an amazing discovering. Many features and lots of information about the tracks. I'd like to contact Pfattner for helping him to translate VELOX into Spanish. ;-)
