After the declaration of the independence of Morocco, the Waqf institution moved from Nizarat Al-Nazzar and Banika Al-Ahbas, as it was called during the colonial period, to the rank of a ministry within the first modern structure of a government specialized in managing public affairs. This ministry was known as the “Ministry of Al-Ahbas” from January 27, 1955 to October 27, 1963 That is, during the era in which Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Susi took charge of its affairs, then followed by a vacancy period during which no minister was appointed, although the institution continued to exist, and this period extended to the borders of 1963 when the Ministry of Islamic Affairs joined it and became known as: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs
