Because you have only three Darts to attain the target score.
Every levels have the target score shown to you before the start of every level.
Targeting the center gives you the maximum score.
Increasing levels increase difficulty.
A bonus score will be given to you if you target on it perfectly,
because it will be shown on screen for few seconds.
