Tulsidas Times Music presents songs of Tulsidas. Tulsidas (1532 – 1623) was the author of Ramcharitmanas, the Ramayan written in the common man’s dialects of Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Brijbhasa and Bundeli. His parents were Hulsi and Atmaram Dubey, Parashar gotra Brahmins. Tulsidas was born in Rajapur, Chitrakoot, in the present-day Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The original Sanskrit composer of Ramayan, saint Valmiki was given a boon by Lord Hanuman, that he be born in Kaliyug, and compose the Ramayan in the common man’s dialect of the times. And, it was widely believed that saint Valmiki had indeed reincarnated as Tulsidas. His Ramcharitmanas is revered in many Hindu homes of India and abroad. Written in Chaupai, couplets in verse form, it is also called as Tulsi-krit Ramayana.
