Colorful Flying Paper Lanterns for Night Sky. Paper lanterns have had a long and rich history in Asia, especially in China, where they are considered as a symbol of happiness, good luck, prosperity, protection, and as a feng shui cure. Most of them are constructed with a pliable bamboo, wooden, or metal frame and covered with rice paper or Saa paper, while a few others, like the tissue and pompom lanterns, are made merely by folding sheets of paper and hanging them from a string to finish as a lantern decoration.
