FreeFree download but requires Avilution Subscription ($4.95/month) for data. Designed both for on the ground flight planning/route exploration as in air use, AviationMaps shows aircraft's current position and flight plan onto FAA Sectional, Low Altitude, and High Altitude charts (only US). On the ground, overlays weather information (radar winds, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, etc), allowing pilots to visualize how current conditions may impact their flight. Flight plan entry supports victor/jet airways while displaying all waypoints along the way (for example to load a Garmin 430/530). Airborne, actual routes flown can be stored as GPS breadcrumbs, for later upload/viewing in Google Earth. Improves situational awareness with easy in-flight access to airport data (e.g. runway information, radio freqs, and traffic patterns), a flight pad for recording clearance ATIS, etc, and support for NACO charts. All chart data can be downloaded on the ground, ensuring all necessary is data is available in air.
